Global Cleveland Launch Party and Summit
The Global Cleveland Summit at Cleveland State University on May 25, 2011 included nearly 300 representatives from business, economic development, community, government, religious, social service and cultural organizations who spent the day discussing how to make Cleveland a more welcoming region and developing actionable ideas for moving forward efforts to attract and retain newcomers, fill jobs and connect people to the community.
Since the summit, Global Cleveland has been working with its strategic partners to design meaningful programming that responds to the region’s needs without duplicating efforts. Programming will focus on key areas including filling jobs in the region, connecting international students to internships and jobs, attracting “boomerangers” (those who are from Cleveland but have left), providing credentialing services to refugees and immigrants and building talent pipelines in specific industry sectors, beginning with a pilot program focused on healthcare. Global Cleveland will serve as a central point of connection that unifies the community’s tremendous assets.
